Celebrating the 60th Birthday of Prof. Fabián Flores-Bazán
May 06-10, Universidad de Tarapacá , Arica, Chile
The Chilean-Peruvian Conference on Optimization and Variational Analysis (ChiPOVA-2024) will be held at the Universidad de Tarapacá (UTA), in Arica, Chile, May 06-10, 2024, where it is organized by the Research Group on Applied Optimization and Variational Analysis of the Department of Mathematics and the Institute for Advanced Studies, both from UTA.
The conference is dedicated to strengthen the relationship between both Chilean and Peruvian communities on optimization and variational analysis and, also, for celebrating the 60th birthday of Prof. Fabián Flores-Bazán.
Prof. Fabián Flores-Bazán is a Peruvian researcher who has been working in Chile for almost 30 years in the Universidad de Concepción, in Concepción, Chile.
Professor Flores-Bazán is a full professor at Mathematical Engineering Department from the Universidad de Concepcion, Chile, since April 1994. He got his PhD at SISSA/ISAS, Italy, and immediately moved to UNI,Lima, Peru, where maintained his position until march 1994. During his career visited various research institutions mostly in Europe, Asia and Latin America. He is a worldwide recognize expert on generalized convexity and generalized monotonicity research fields, and his contributions emcompasses different topics from both continuous optimization and variational analysis problems to integral functionals. In recent years, his interest involves quadratic programming, optimization theory (under convex and asymptotic analysis) and integral functionals lacking of standard convexity assumptions.
